a day late

1.  How long have you and your significant other been together?
we started dating about 6 years ago..end of feb 2006

dinner at kerby lane the night we met in person

2.  How did you two meet?

oh my, this story could be long.
so, we met online but not through a dating service or any match making. it's no secret i've always loved reading blogs. i especially love reading blogs just about someone's everyday life. weird maybe but also true. anyway, in january of 2005 i had just graduated from college, was back working at the same restaurant i had been working at for most of college and living in an apartment attached to that restaurant. i spent a lot of time reading blogs during that period of time because i was very bored and always online job hunting. back in the day Xanga was all the rage and one day i was reading my cousin's Xanga page and noticed she had "joined" a group. i clicked on that group and started scrolling through the pages and gregg's profile picture caught my eye. i started reading about his everyday life of college, surfing, sailing and work. i read about his family, his nieces and nephew, his new hobbies and his frustrations. i read about his life without him knowing i existed for almost a year.i thought to myself
" hmm, we would be great together but he lives in Florida and i live in Texas." fast-forward to january 2006-i had found a job in Austin and was living in my one bedroom apartment all alone. i didn't know anyone in austin and again, found myself going back to Gregg's blog when i was bored or lonely. one day in that January i noticed a song he had playing on his page and decided to leave him a comment asking about it. (by this time i had jumped on the blog train myself and was rambling about my days of "food banking" on a pretty regular basis) my comment led him to comment and the cycle continued and progressed into AIM chatting (showing our age again), to phone calls and finally to him flying out to see me. this all happened within a month! in late february 2006 i picked gregg up from the airport (don't worry i brought people with me!) and, as crazy as it sounds, seeing him confirmed what i already knew. he was going to be my future and my husband. sure enough, 13 months later we were married :)

3.  If married, how long have you been married?
 5 years next month

4.  If you are married, where did you get married?  Big or small wedding?

we got married outside of the town my parent's live in at a rose garden. we had a small wedding with about 50ish people there. just family and close friends. with most of gregg's family not being able to come in from florida and with the bulk of my extended family not being able to come in from pennsylvania, we were able to keep things small which is what we preferred. however, i would have loved for more of our family to be there.

5.  Do you have any nick-names that you call each other?

no, just baby. although, now that we have 2 kids this has gotten confusing :)

6.  Name 3 things that you love most about your honey.

he follows Christ, he chose a career that serves people over a career that provides a huge salary, and he does the little things (washing bottles before leaving for work at 6am, filling up my car when he notices it is running low on gas, randomly picking up a coffee mug that he knows i will love when he is out, letting me have the closet with the door that doesn't stick, etc)

7.  Tell us how he proposed.

so, a few months after we started dating long distance, gregg was able to move to austin for the summer of 2006. he found roommates and was able to get a job at a hospital here for that time period. at end of that summer, he had to go back to florida to finish school. (we met during a 1.5 year break from college that he had taken) he moved back in august and i decided to go to. he helped me find roommates and we packed up all of my belongings that could fit in his 2 door ford explorer and off we went. the weekend after we moved back to jacksonville, he suggested a day trip to Savannah, GA since it was going to be our last free weekend for awhile. after spending the day in Savannah we had dinner at a great place downtown and headed out for an evening walk. Savannah has a really picturesque downtown with gardens and fountains every few blocks. He stopped at one of these gardens and knelt down and asked me to marry him.

8.  Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, roses, and champagne?
um, neither? we just don't really do valentine's day. one year, he left candy and a flower on the driver's seat of my car but i typically hit of the drugstore the day after v-day for 1/2 price candy!

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?

honestly, if we could get a child free evening at home for dinner, movie and conversation i think we would take it over going out any day.

10. Tell us one thing you’d like to do with your significant other one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

i would love for us to grow our family through adoption one day (not one day soon though!); i would love to go on vacation together-somewhere we haven't been together; i would love for gregg to visit Pennsylvania with me and see where i spent all my summers growing up.

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine’s Day.

well it was yesterday. gregg ended up getting called off work and abbey had mother's day out in the morning. so we took tucker and did some shopping and a lunch out. it was nice to have some weekday time together.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine’s day?

a nap? i got one so i'll say i asked for it :)

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

do the little things (texting/emailing during the day for example), really think before starting an argument-99% of the time it's not worth arguing over, do what you can do to always chose the other person over yourself and always, always chose Christ first.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
