obligatory year's end post

i'm not really a new year's eve or day celebrator-every year i remark on how pointless the whole "holiday" seems to me (there is my yearly remark!) but i did go back and discover that i listed 4 things i wanted to work on last year at this time.

this was my list in january of 2010:

1. lose the last 10 lbs of pregnancy weightapparently the last 10 won't just fall off magically like the first 20 did.

2. eat out less and cook at least 2x a week. (yeah, i never cook..)

3. be more dedicated and serious about daily prayer and scripture reading. this area has taken a MAJOR hit since starting school and especially since having abbey in my life

4. answer my phone when people call me. i really am not a fan of talking on the phone so i rarely answer the phone when people call. it has nothing to do with who is calling me-i just find phone conversations to be awkward so i tend to avoid them. unfortunately, i am missing out on hearing from my friends this way so i must get better about that.

and here is an update:

1. lose the last 10 lbs of pregnancy weightwoo-hoo! i can count this one as accomplished!

2. eat out less and cook at least 2x a week. since moving back to austin and truly being a "stay at home mom" + having a normal sized oven and kitchen i really have been cooking more. i think it's safe to say i cook 2x a week on a pretty regularly basis..sometimes even 3 (gasp!)

3. be more dedicated and serious about daily prayer and scripture reading. this area has taken a MAJOR hit since starting school and especially since having abbey in my life. this is a constant work in progress but i have been spending much time on both areas lately and, wouldn't you know, i'm really enjoying those quiet minutes with God everyday.

4. answer my phone when people call me. i really am not a fan of talking on the phone so i rarely answer the phone when people call. it has nothing to do with who is calling me-i just find phone conversations to be awkward so i tend to avoid them. unfortunately, i am missing out on hearing from my friends this way so i must get better about that. ha, it's hard to say really. i guess i'm getting better-maybe a little. i don't really know. i think if nothing else i've gotten a little better about calling back if i don't answer when they call the 1st time. i have phone phobia!!

so i guess all in all 2010 wasn't a total loss in the area of goal accomplishment. i honestly haven't given any thought to goals for 2011. as i've said before, i'm not really a goal person but i suppose it doesn't hurt to look at ways in which i could improve.

i think it's funny that last year you said "eat out less"...because compared to basically everyone, we eat out so very little. i guess you were really meaning more of the "cook more" part though. you cook wonderfully as always, and either way, we eat very healthy because of the lack of obsessive desire for a big meat-dish and 3 sides every night. i'm happy friend.
